Hydrogen, an “ideal” energy carrier with an energy density of about 143 MJ/Kg will revolutionize the energy industry. It offers alternative solutions to fossil fuels (coal, oil): environmentally friendly, clean, renewable and non-polluting fuel, and energy efficient fuel cell. Unlike fossil fuels, hydrogen fuel generates electricity without greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, leading to a more viable and cleaner environment. Hydrogen can be used in all sectors of the US economy, and improve our transportation sector and domestic energy security. In addition, pure hydrogen can be produced from different sources, mainly from water electrolysis.
In summary, hydrogen fuel has the potential to considerably help reduce GHG emissions, improve our air/water quality and public health, and protect our environment.
